Thirteen unique awards have arrived in Nové Město na Moravě from the north of the Czech Republic. Ajeto Glassworks from Nový Bor has once again crafted trophies for the top riders of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Nové Město na Moravě.

"Since 2011, when we hosted the World Cup here for the first time, we’ve always presented original prizes from Czech artists to the medalists. We’re proud that the racers truly value these trophies and that they take home a special memory not only of the race but also of the Czech Republic,"

said race director Petr Vaněk last year, when the Nové Město organizers introduced the Ajeto trophies for the first time.

Following last year’s success, the NMNM organizing team decided to reach out to the glassworks again. Master glassmaker David Ševčík took on the challenge.

Melt the glass, blow it, shape it, grind it, add layers, cool it, grind it again, silver it, polish it, and engrave it. Done! It may sound simple, but the entire process can take several days.

“We based the new design on last year’s trophies, which we wanted to preserve, but we also added new elements to reflect the difficulty and drama of the mountain bike tracks. I think they turned out great – they really give the impression of being a blend between glass and metal,” explains David Ševčík.

The World Cup in Nové Město na Moravě thus joins the ranks of prestigious events like the Tour de France, which also features trophies made by Ajeto Glassworks.

Twelve elite medalists from the short track and cross-country events will take these trophies home.

This year, Ajeto Glassworks celebrates its 30th anniversary. Founded on October 28, 1994, in Lindava near Nový Bor, it has been a symbol of Czech craftsmanship and a global ambassador of artistic glassmaking from the very beginning.

To this day, Ajeto continues to produce the Thalia Awards for theater based on the designs of co-founder Bořek Šípek. Since 2011, the glassworks has also been creating trophies for the world’s most famous cycling race – the Tour de France.

Over the years, Ajeto has welcomed renowned glass artists, designers, architects, actors, and filmmakers. Since 2017, it has been part of LASVIT, and now supports part of its production. Ajeto specializes in custom glass pieces and also rents out a significant portion of its production capacity to design studios, artists, schools, and other companies.
